In this particular vault, everyone is put in a chamber that forces them into hibernation for several years, preserving them until they are ready to resurface. Instead, we get an action RPG with players freely moving around during combat and being able to deliver a barrage of attacks of dodges. Unfortunately, this is not the full game as the developers opted to release this game in episodic-style installments. Currently, we don’t even know just how many installments there will be before Final Fantasy 7 Remake is finished, but final fantasy quiz for now, you can enjoy the first part of the remake. The Yakuza series had a following but the series is a bit old today after first getting started on the PlayStation 2. Fortunately, the developers opted to bring the game series back with a few remakes under the Kiwami name.

You play as Zagreus, son of Hades and a demigod determined to break out of the underworld. Unfortunately, he’ll have to go through legions of the undead, monsters, and even other gods to make it out. You’ll need to use a mixture of brutal weapons and abilities to stop them before they can kill you. But they also will tell you that eventually, the days of the Wild West ended.

Because if we’re being honest, you can lump almost every mainline title in the franchise together and know what you’re getting. That’s not always a bad thing, mind you, as that gives you consistency in terms of gameplay. From Software’s ultimate title, so far, deserves to be the highest on this list for many reasons. Not least is that this is the first open-world game that they’ve done, and people liked it. While all the games in the franchise have action, it’s Metal Gear Rising Revengeance that takes it to the next level and beyond.

For what it’s worth, the game has a much more engrossing story than it needs to, as well. In fact, we rate the characters pretty highly – not least the main lad Arthur Morgan, who is a genuinely thoughtful take on the classic ‘morally ambiguous outlaw’ trope. He’s a bruiser who’s not afraid to talk about his feelings, even though he doesn’t always know what his feelings are. It’s warm and funny yet still an interesting crime drama, and its cities are chock full of diversions that make them feel like real, living places. Importantly, Odyssey continued the trend of harder combat, gear mattering more and stealth being your best option, which makes it feel less like busy work and more like an actual challenge.

Easily one of the best, but also one of the hardest action games ever. Dark Souls 3 is set in a dark, gothic open world with the player just being thrown in to fight for his life. This sequel refines much of what came before by making each of its many pistols, rifles, and other more exotic weaponry even more fun to wield. Each of its multiversal worlds is distinct and full of tough fights and puzzles hidden in their forests, castles, and sci-fi corridors. With new guns, armors, and items to be discovered around each corner, as well as varied and deep skill trees and abilities to play around with, Remnant 2 encourages you to find your own playstyle to great effect. It’s ambitious and varied in its approach, and succeeds in delivering one of the best action games of the year, tying it at fourth place with Armored Core 6 with 9.8% of the vote apiece.

Chances are you know of Overwatch from how popular the game has been over the years. It’s a team-based hero shooter similar to Apex Legends and Valorant, each character offering something to the table. However, Paladins offers a bit more game modes to pick through than Overwatch and it’s not a battle royale game.

Dash, glide, and blast your way through five action-packed chapters and face down robotic sentries, mech-piloting mercenaries, and brutal bosses. Combat is an omnidirectional affair that incorporates aerial mobility into your core move set.

If you missed out on this game and haven’t given the Tales franchise then this is a great starting point that doesn’t require any backstory from past Tales installments. CD Projekt Red in a ton of player’s eyes around the world could do no wrong. These developers were bringing out some iconic and classic RPG titles for The Witcher franchise and over the years this studio was hyping up their next thrilling video game release, Cyberpunk 2077.

With 2022 having some stressful moments, action games were on hand to deliver some much-needed relaxation as fans burned through their aggression and mastered these titles. We made mention of the Souls franchise a couple of times in this list. It’s an immensely popular franchise, but some fans may have never played the original Demon’s Souls. That game came out back in 2009 exclusively for the PlayStation 3 so there was plenty of players that either missed it from not having a PlayStation 3 or simply just get into the franchise until moving on with Dark Souls.

There are some conflicts between the Russian mafia and the Italian mafia; while they are fighting with each other, your job is to eliminate them. I like those flashy slow-motion jumps and 360-gun shooting moves; those moves look dope. Bosses are the lifeblood of any FromSoft game, and Sekiro might be home to some of the best they’ve ever designed. We won’t spoil any of these fights, as they’re true tests of skill and the reward for beating them, no matter what’s thrown at you, is a feeling worth fighting for. It’s an action game that makes you feel precise even when you’re a fool like us, and that alone is a marvel.

You must master the deep and varied combat system if you want to stand a chance (and look fabulous while doing it). Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a smaller, tighter title than recent series entries, one that recalls its earlier, groundbreaking releases. You play as Basim, a young assassin who tries to overthrow an oppressive regimen in Ubisoft’s take on Baghdad. Mirage has fun returning features such as eavesdropping and pickpocketing that were sorely missing from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Origins, and Valhalla.
